18 Mar 2011

Check out this link from the Oregonian:

MILWAUKIE -- The International Quilt Association chose a quilt created by Janet Fogg of Milwaukie to compete in its spring show.

Fogg, whose colorful quilt is called "Trinity," is one of 21 finalists. The quilts will be on display and the winners will be announced when the three-day show -- featuring the theme "Celebrate Spring!" -- opens April 8 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

March 2011

01 Mar 2011

Hello fellow quilters,

It is National Craft Month and....

March 19 is National Quilt Day!

In the larger scope...2011 is the year of the LOG CABIN.

In celebration of this the ETSY team "QUILTSY", of which I am a new member, has launched a great project.

"SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING QUILT BLOCKS"

Here is how it got started: using 42 quilters from all over the country and beyond....

with the leadership of  "Wimbrella" from Houston Hights, Texas.

[  This is going to be SO fun! Participants are grouped into "ROWS" mostly by location.

Each person is making a log cabin block (in cool family colors - blues, greens and/or purples) trimed to 12-1/2 inches. Those are the only requirements. How many "logs", width of logs etc., is completely open to individual interpretation.

If they are not the first person, each participant sews their block onto those before them, adding to the row before mailing it to the next person in their row. The last person sends the entire row to annsquiltnstuff who is going to finish the quilt for us.

Please take a picture of your block and/or the row after you add your block in a setting unique to your area or with something meaningful to you. We will blog about the project progress. Link your uploaded photos in this thread or email them to me if you don't want to upload them. ]

Here is my contribution: Living in the Northwest I can't resist the Tulips...especially the purple ones.  If you notice I had to add the frog print on the left....

Maybe your quilt guild or local shop could do the same.

2010

26 Jan 2010

Started the year off with a great show at the Oregon Gardens.....

Bessy the cow made her debut, she was a big hit! Patterns are now available. There are only a few kits left of this project.

She now lives in California
with her new owner.

I am making another with
flowers with next year’s
fabrics.

2 kits and patterns still available.

Beauties from this years shows I liked.

A trip to Victoria BC for our 25th wedding anniversary is sure to inspire a quilt or two!

White Poppies! Gorgeous I don’t know what I see in this
bush....oh yeah, purple and lime
green of course.
I think this bridge will
make a good pattern.
Love the trunk!
